MACROSTAFF helped this quality waterjet solutions manufacturer develop its own LAMP-based (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) management system. It covers purchasing, forecasting, inventory tracking, accounting, customer service, manufacturing – a web based software product that runs the entire business. The new OMAX system uses Amazon Kindle Fire tablets, large touch screens and standard label printers, providing an easily accessible, low cost computing environment for its workforce.
Seattle Public Schools
The Seattle Public Schools recently implemented Power Schools software on an extremely tight schedule (eighteen months were compressed into six, because the old system was failing). Yes, there were some problems as the public began enrolling for the new school year, but the project was amazingly successful, the bugs were few and quickly fixed, and the team should be proud of delivering this critical system. We’re proud to have been part of the QA team that spent long hours preparing this software for go-live.
Oak Harbor Freight Lines
A Washington based shipping company needed a developer to help them build new web services and applications, bridging the gap between their AS400 back end and open-source front end. The goal: to better serve their customers via their website. MACROSTAFF supplied them a PHP developer with a background in RPG development– who had previous experience building the very same services and applications they needed. These applications provided shipment status, load tenders, bill of landing, and rate quote services via the company’s website. While working remotely, this developer also provided work schedules and consistent status updates, and continues to do so in the further support and growth of the client’s website and services.
University of Washington
The School of Social work lost an employee, and needed help ASAP to support to students, faculty and staff. They needed expertise on a variety of software applications, desktop, printer, and basic server administration skills. Windows, Macs, smartphones, Word & Excel for Windows, Internet Browsers and Exchange. But they also needed someone who would fit into a culturally diverse environment with empathy and intelligence. Our friendly, patient, broadly knowledgeable technologist melded perfectly, and the contract was quickly extended beyond its original length and scope.
Crystal Reports Developer
Zenith Administrators, the largest third party employee benefits administrator in America, needed Crystal Reports developed over a short timeframe. MACROSTAFF supplied a senior developer who worked 60 to 65 hour weeks over a 6 week period during the holidays to deliver these critical reports on time for Zenith Administrators.
Project Managers, Business Analysts
Clearwire, the wireless broadband service provider that pioneered 4G networks, needed additional staff to support their AMDOCs billing implementations and releases. In 2009 / 2010 MACROSTAFF provided 11 Project Managers and Business Analysts, 6 of whom were hired directly by Clearwire when they discovered how perfectly these professionals fit their high energy environment.
An Oregon-based Retailer, renowned for customer service, is changing technology in an effort to improve the way it interacts with its customers. As it does so, it moves its internal IT staff to support their new technologies. But the existing systems must still be maintained. MACROSTAFF supplies senior iSeries developers with excellent iLE and SQL skills and the ability to quickly learn the retailer’s systems, people, policies, and procedures. Our developers keep these systems up to date and functional, and also port data from the old systems to the new.
City of Seattle, Department of Transportation
The Department of Transportation, in an effort to better serve the public, created a website offering traffic congestion information to travelers. MACROSTAFFӳ professional managed the Traveler Information Map Project, executing it in two phases (two releases) over 2.75 years. The site collects traffic data and converts it into a congestion value for each road segment, displaying up-to-the minute congestion data in color coded road segments for travelers. The website was developed using .Net, SQL, web services, Linux with Perl, GIS, Bing Maps controls, and Agile development methodology. The project was delivered on time and within budget, and received the ITS Council Best Project of the Year Award, the International Transportation Engineers 2010 award and recognition in CIO magazine. www.seattle.gov/travelers.
