Volunteer Positions

MACRO.CCS partners with nonprofit organizations to list their volunteer needs. These are particularly appropriate for those who have recently picked up training in a new skill, and want to apply it. Volunteering gives you reference-able work and the opportunity to help your community. Following are some of the skills now needed. If you are interested, please contact the organizations directly.

Open Source – Content Management System – Volunteer Developer needed. Work with design firm for Plone-Salesforce buildout and integration based on existing static HTML cascading style sheets. End goals and deliverables include:
• Capture form data directly from website visitors into Salesforce – inquiries, event registrations and RSVPs (paid and unpaid), survey responses, newsletter signups, and more.
• Set up GetPaid for Plone eCommerce system using both product and donations modules.
• Coordinate with Saleforce admin resource to ensure all data is mapping correctly.

Volunteers are needed at Helping Link, a nonprofit organization located in the International District that serves the local Vietnamese community! Our organization provides services such as after-school tutoring, E.S.L. classes, computer education classes, and citizenship classes. Although we primarily serve the Vietnamese-American community, our services are available to all groups, regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, sex, age, or political affiliation. Volunteer Computer Lab Monitors are needed to monitor the computer labs during the hours in which the lab is open to the public. Computer lab monitors will also assist clients with the use of software and internet services such as email, Microsoft Office 2010, Adobe Photoshop, The Source, Beehive, and Social Networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Our organization provides services such as after-school tutoring, E.S.L. classes, computer education classes, and citizenship classes. Although we primarily serve the Vietnamese-American community, our services are available to all groups, regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, sex, age, or political affiliation. Volunteer Web Designers are needed to upgrade and maintain our website, from which we are changing from Joomla to WordPress. Volunteers are needed to help improve our Microsoft Access 2010 database allowing our staff and volunteers to efficiently enter data and analyze certain statistics. Volunteers will also work to manage and maintain the Windows computer system and Active Directory network. A non-profit organization is seeking Trainers who can provide “user” trainings on 2010 MS Office Software (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint), Project Professional 2010, and Visio Premium 2010. Please contact antoinettem@seattleccd.com for further information.

Volunteer Graphic Designers are needed to upgrade/improve existing graphics and logos, which we can use to improve visibility on our websites, flyers, and advertisements. Our volunteer program presently has an internship opportunity for a student who is currently in a two or four-year marketing or business degree program. This is a part-time position with flexibility to accommodate a student’s school schedule. The person will work out of our Bellevue, Washington offices and is not compensated.
Specific duties:
• Research and determine who the hiring authorities are at greater Seattle area not-for-profits by using:
o Publications
o Our database of companies
o General knowledge of the not-for-profit sector
• Contact hiring authorities at greater Seattle area not-for-profits via telephone. Using a dialogue script, present the volunteer program to the hiring authority.
• Log all not-for-profit companies, hiring authorities, contact information and contact instances in our database.
• When the intern discovers a volunteer opportunity, the intern will work with a MACROSTAFF Account Manager to:
o Describe the volunteer job in writing
o Create and place the volunteer job description on our Web site
• Monitor open volunteer jobs by staying in touch with hiring authorities. Remove volunteer job descriptions from our Web site when they have been filled.
• Develop ideas to expand program

Developer experienced in Ruby-On-Rails needed to design and develop new web pages, and to troubleshoot problems on existing site. Work will be 2-10 hours per week in a creative, fast-paced, casual and hard-working environment.
